Beautiful final words to a Dutch icon

For 57 years, the yellow emergency roadside telephones were a reassuring sight along roads in the Netherlands. Anyone who found themselves stranded with a breakdown could use these iconic phones to call for assistance. However, mobile phones made them obsolete, so they were removed. And we needed to inform the Dutch public about the end of this era.

To mark their departure, we asked Dutch wordsmiths to craft final words for the emergency phones — the last goodbye. Beautiful words instead of the misfortune that they overheard for many years.
